Last Raps Baseball Corp.

For the first time in Vancouver, Last Raps Baseball Corp. is inviting British Columbia’s best young ball players to attend a camp in Vancouver hosted at Hillcrest Park and Nat Bailey Stadium. Three days of the camp will be at Hillcrest Park (just outside Nat Bailey Stadium) and the fourth day of the camp will be on field inside the “NAT”.

These two camps are age specific and are limited to those who played on their All Star Teams (with Little League) or are on a REP team (in the BC Minor Sponsored Leagues). The young ballplayer has to have played on their all star team this year to qualify for this camp. This camp is limited to 30 campers. After that, a waiting list will be created for those who are still interested in the camp.

Age Criteria As BC Minor and Little League have slightly different age cutoffs, the ages for the camps are determined as follows:

Camp #1 – August 3/10 to August 6/10
Little League: Baseball 8’s, 9’s or 10’s (Minor All Star or Senior Rookie or Farm Team)
BC Minor: Born in 2002, 2001 or 2000

Camp #2 – August 16/10 to August 19/10
Little League: Baseball 11’s, 12’s or 13’s (Major All Star’s or 1st year Junior All Star Players)
BC Minor: Born in 1999, 1998 or 1997

Camp Structure

Participants will be separated by ages.

Morning stations – will have drill work for the camper in all aspects of the sport of baseball. Base running, hitting, catching, pitching, fielding, outfield work, agility etc. Station work will focus on technical skills and drills. There will be competitions after the specific skill has been displayed.

Lunch – will be approximately 30 minutes in length. The time will vary.

Afternoon Session – Campers will be divided up into 3 teams of 10 players. The teams will compete in the afternoon session in a series of innings. An electric pitching machine will be used to throw to the hitters and will be fed by one of the coaching staff. Each team will be assigned a coach each day. Statistics such as Runs, Hits and RBI’s will be kept and prizes awarded for the leaders in each category.

Prizes and giveaways of Baseball Gear for this Camp will be supplied by The Sports Exchange, located on Burrard Street in Vancouver.

Last Raps Baseball Corp. in cooperation with the Peninsula Baseball and Softball Association and Baseball British Columbia have added a summer camp in Sidney, BC, from August 16 to August 19, 2010. Each camp is 4 days in length, Monday through Thursday, and will run from 10:00am to 3:00pm daily. In the event of inclement weather, Friday is reserved as a rain date. The decision to defer or cancel a day because of inclement weather will be made by 9am on the day of the event.

Instructors for these camps will include current UBC coaches, players, and alumni. These camps will feature a number of different skill stations where young ball players will rotate through these stations receiving various skill specific instruction from coaches and players. Skill stations will include but are not restricted to, base running, throwing, hitting, infield, pitching, outfield etc. Campers will be classified first by age and then grouped by ability. All skill level and abilities of players are welcomed.

Players will need to bring their own gloves, batting helmets, bats, baseball shoes and a lunch. A water jug will be available, but campers need to bring a bottle with them for refills.

The summer of 2010 will be a busy a time for Last Raps Baseball Corp. as we will be hosting 17 four-day camps across the lower mainland, interior and Vancouver Island. These camps are for ages 8 – 14 years old and will focus on skill development. Instructors for these camps will be UBC coaches, players and T-Bird alumni.
