The Showcase is a two day event and will take place on August 19th and 20th, 2015. The purpose of our event is to provide high school students three things: 1) Exposure to post-secondary school programs that offer baseball at the collegiate level 2) Receive professional instruction from those who have coached and played at the collegiate level and beyond 3) Controlled scrimmages so that the players can compete against others who have similar goals of playing baseball beyond the high school level.

Summer Hitting Clinics – Trafalgar Park

In August, Last Raps Baseball will be offering Hitting Training at Trafalgar Park, in Vancouver, BC. The summer hitting clinics will run two nights per week (Tuesday and Thursday) and will be four weeks in length for a total of eight sessions. These clinics are for those who are aged 8 to 12 years of age with the appropriate time slots indicated below. Clinics are 90 minutes in length. With a Full clinic, we will work at a ratio of four participants to one instructor.

Dustin Pedroia

What to expect in our hitting clinics? Our philosophy with those who are aged 12 and under is to to work on two core areas: 1) Vision 2) Mechanics. Both of these areas have to work in tandem for a hitter to be able hit. If the hitter has great mechanics but are blind as a bat, they will never be a good hitter. If the hitter has great vision and poor mechanics, they will never become a great hitter. Training this particular area of the sport requires time, dedication and attention to detail. Therefore our work in these clinics will evolve around this approach. Use of tee’s, soft toss, wiffles, front toss, short distance darts, leading to the possibility of machine work and regular BP will act as the progression of activities. Within these activities, we engage in activities that break down the swing.

More information on this clinic including cost and times can be found by selecting the Summer Hitting Clinics link in the menus.
